Esri Canada has an exciting professional opportunity for a GIS Software Developer. Based out of our corporate office in Toronto, you will combine your software development and analytical skills to implement geo-enabled solutions for Esri Canada products. Reporting to the Director of Technology and Solutions you will contribute to the ongoing development and support for the Esri Canada AVL and Business Analyst solutions and other strategic initiates. The main responsibilities of this position include software development, support, and training while working in close collaboration with a team of developers in the Technology Strategy Group.

Responsibilities include:

  • Processing, localizing, testing and delivering data for Business Analyst Desktop and ArcGIS Online GeoEnrichment products
  • Providing development and support services for the Esri Canada AVL Solution product
  • Troubleshoot and resolve AVL issues submitted by clients
  • Manage software build process and maintain releases
  • Provide feedback and suggestions for software development process improvement
  • Estimate development efforts and adhere to project schedules
  • Meet with customers to identify and assess business problems that can be solved with ArcGIS based solutions
  • Proactively pursue self-instruction on all relevant technical topics
  • Working collaboratively with other developers to ensure development needs are being met

 Specific skill requirements:

  • 3+ years’ experience in designing Esri GIS based systems
  • 3+ years development experience and extensive knowledge of JavaScript
  • Advanced knowledge of Python scripting
  • Working knowledge of relational databases and replication (SQL Server or PostgreSQL)
  • Experience with .NET, C#
  • Working experience with ArcGIS Server (geodatabase and web services) installation and configuration including security and the web adaptor
  • Demonstrable skills developing technical and user documentation
  • University degree in computer science, GIS or equivalent education
